He is famous for playing mobsters, including Michael Corleone in The Godfather trilogy, Tony Montana in Scarface, Alphonse "Big Boy" Caprice in Dick Tracy, Carlito Brigante in Carlito's Way and Benjamin "Lefty" Ruggiero in Donnie Brasco, though he has also appeared several times on the other side of the law â€" as a police officer in Serpico, a detective in Sea of Love and Insomnia, a lawyer in ...And Justice for All, as a police lieutenant in Heat and as an army lieutenant colonel in Scent of a Woman.
